Northwestern Medicine Opens Fourth Immediate Care Center in West Loop

New location at 171 N. Aberdeen, on the corner of Aberdeen and Lake Street

Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Center West Loop, located at 171 N. Aberdeen Street, opens its doors today to patients in the West Loop neighborhood. This grand opening marks the fourth immediate care center location in Chicago and the seventh location in Illinois for Northwestern Medicine.

“We are excited to be able to expand access to convenient and affordable care to patients, families and employees living and working in the bustling and effervescent neighborhood,” said Matthew Kippenhan, MD, central region medical director for the Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Centers.

The 5,000 square foot, one-story space boasts six exam rooms, a digital X-Ray and EKG services, lab testing, and an automated medication dispensing system for patients needing non-life threatening medical attention. Patients’ ages six months to adulthood can be seen by a licensed, board-certified physician or healthcare provider for minor illnesses/accidents, skin irritations, flu vaccines and more.

Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Center West Loop also offers InstyMeds, a fully automated ATM-style machine that dispenses prescriptions directly to patients immediately before leaving the center. When a prescription is written by one of the Northwestern Medicine providers, the patient can pick it up from the machine in the lobby.

“Unique to our immediate care center, an attending physician is always staffed every day at each of the Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Centers including the newest location in the West Loop,” said Lubna Madani, MD, north region medical director for Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Centers.

New location treats common conditions including:

Cough, colds, flu, and diarrhea
Cuts, animal bites, burns
Urinary tract infections and STD screenings
Allergic reactions, skin irritations and rashes
Broken bones, dislocations, sprains and strains
Foreign bodies in the eye, ear or nose

Major injuries and traumas should always be directed to full-service emergency rooms.

The Immediate Care Center West Loop operates from 8:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.* seven days a week, 365 days a year. Walk-ins are welcome. Online check-ins are also available by clicking here. Patients can check-in at a specific time and hold their place in line prior to arriving to the immediate care center location.
