Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital Honored with 2021 Barth Award
Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital is the recipient of the 2021 William D. Barth Award. The award, presented by TriCity Family Services*, traditionally honors the community’s top volunteer and philanthropist. TriCity elected to honor Delnor Hospital for extraordinary efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the award ceremony* at Delnor Hospital on Oct. 22, TriCity Family Services executive director Laura Poss presented the award to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital Medical Staff President Jonathan Song, MD, and a group of more than 20 healthcare workers in attendance to represent their colleagues.
“We all recognize how taxing the past 18 months have been for everyone. It was deeply important to us that these first responders, these heroes, know how very much appreciated they are to this community for displaying such courage and strength during a global crisis. Amidst such daunting challenges, we proudly acknowledge Delnor’s selfless dedication to helping others,” said Poss.
In accepting the award on behalf of the staff, Dr. Song praised the compassion and dedication of the entire team at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital.
“From the very first COVID-19 patient we treated back in March 2020, this virus has been unrelenting. The Delnor team has worked consistently together to overcome unprecedented obstacles to provide the highest quality of care to our community,” said Dr. Song. “The passion and resilience of our courageous physicians, nurses and support staff is inspiring.”
TriCity Family Services Director of Development Michelle Rollins and Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns also spoke at the event.
Established in 1985, the Barth Award* honors the memory of William D. Barth, a founder of TriCity Family Services and dedicated community leader. TriCity Family Services is a private, nonprofit community mental health center serving central and southern Kane County.
