LivingWell Cancer Resource Center Hosts 13th Annual Bridge Walk May 19th

Lace up your shoes, gather your pledges and join the 13th Annual Bridge Walk, a 5K walk along the Fox River to raise money and awareness for LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, a part of Northwestern Medicine. The Bridge Walk, to be held at 8 a.m. on May 19th at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva, is a family focused event that honors patients with cancer and survivors.

“The Bridge Walk is an amazing morning full of hope and solidarity,” said Nancy Vance, Director LivingWell Cancer Resource Center. “We kick off the event with a Celebration Walk for anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis. It is uplifting and empowering.”

Bridge Walk participants will receive a T-shirt, complimentary seated massages, refreshments and entertainment. There will be art activities, face painting and additional fun activities for children. Awards will be presented to the top fundraising individual, team, school and organization/business.

LivingWell’s focus is to help cancer patients and their caregivers learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and enhance their quality of life. Serving seven counties in the western suburbs, LivingWell relies solely on donations from the community to provide 100+ programs and services free of charge.

LivingWell programs include weekly support groups; one-on-one and family counseling; medical educational presentations; nutrition classes; mind, body and fitness programs; stress, pain and fatigue management through massage, art and other workshops.

Register before May 1 and receive a discounted fee of $25 for those ages 13 and up, and $15 for children ages 7 - 12. Registration fees after May 1 are $30 for adults and $20 for children. The event is free for all cancer survivors and children under 6.
